Community Input Meetings, Survey Continue for ARP Funding

Jul 22, 2021

Cumberland County residents have an opportunity to share their thoughts on how American Rescue Plan funding allocated to the County can best serve the community by completing a short online survey and participating in public meetings scheduled in Gray’s Creek on July 22 and in Fayetteville on July 27.

The survey is posted on the County’s website at cumberlandcountync.gov/ARP.  The survey will close on July 31.

The Board of Commissioners established a three-member ARP committee which includes Commissioner Jimmy Keefe, the committee chairman; Commissioner Glenn Adams, the board’s vice chairman; and Commissioner Dr. Toni Stewart.

The County held community input sessions on July 15 in Spring Lake and on July 20 in Godwin. The committee also met with the Mayors’ Coalition on July 13.

The other meetings will be held:

  • July 22            6:00 p.m.         J.D. Pone Recreation Center, 2964 School Road, Hope Mills
  • July 27            6:00 p.m.         Department of Social Services, 1225 Ramsey St., Fayetteville
  • July 29            6:00 p.m.         Virtual session. Login information will be posted on County website at Cumberlandcountync.gov/ARP.

The meeting on July 27 will be a joint session with the City of Fayetteville.

Cumberland County’s ARP allocation is $65 million. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has established eligible uses for the funding and published an Interim Final Rule. Eligible uses for ARP funds by counties include supporting public health expenditures; addressing the negative economic impacts of the pandemic; providing premium pay for essential workers and investing in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure.
