Jul 23, 2021

The Cumberland County Department of Public Health will host a Saturday back-to-school and COVID-19 vaccination clinic July 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Health Department, located at 1235 Ramsey St.

School Immunizations

Appointments are required for routine back-to-school vaccines at the Health Department. Call 910-321-7116 to schedule an appointment. State law requires every child attending a North Carolina school receive certain vaccines including diphtheria, measles, mumps and whooping cough. The full required vaccine schedule for children is available at immunize.nc.gov/family/immnz_children.htm.

Parents and guardians have 30 calendar days from the first day of school attendance to provide the required documentation. Immunization records are checked upon entrance into childcare, kindergarten, 7th grade and colleges.

COVID-19 Vaccine

The Saturday COVID-19 vaccinations are Johnson and Johnson and first dose Pfizer. For general COVID-19 questions, call 910-678-7656. Walk-ins welcome. For more information about COVID-19 and a calendar of vaccination clinics, visit cumberlandcountync.gov/covid19.

“We know that the majority of all new cases of COVID-19 are among those unvaccinated,” said Cumberland County Public Health Director Dr. Jennifer Green. “We hope that pairing these two initiatives will encourage parents and students to come get their vaccinations taken care of before the new school year starts.”
