Explore The ‘Oceans of Possibilities’ With The Summer Reading Program

May 31, 2022

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Public Library’s summer reading program “Oceans of Possibilities” starts June 1 and continues through August 15 at all library locations. Readers of all ages can dive into the ocean depths this summer with programs, story times, book clubs, prize drawings and more.

“Oceans of Possibilities” is designed for someone to read books, attend or watch programs and win prizes. Participants keep track of their reading and earn prizes such as books and a limited-edition summer reading t-shirt. Branch prizes and grand prizes include an annual family membership to the North Carolina Aquariums and gift cards.

“Oceans of Possibilities” is the perfect way to keep children and teens engaged in learning while school is out. Prizes start at just five hours of reading. The program helps improve reading skills, promotes creative thinking, imagination and storytelling. Children and teens can participate in fun activities like games, challenges and missions.

Both adults and children can track their progress by using a reading record which can be picked up at any library location or downloaded and printed from the Cumberland County Public Library website.

READsquared, a reading app, can be downloaded or accessed at ccplnc.readsquared.com. For adults, there are missions and games specifically for them. There are also numerous book clubs and other programs both in-person and online at cumberlandnc.evanced.info/signup/calendar.
