Holds Funeral for Homeless Veteran
The Cumberland County Veterans Services' Office is soliciting support from the local community in efforts to gather attendants at the funeral of David Johnson, a homeless veteran. Johnson, who served on active duty in the Army during the late 70's and early 80's, has no known next of kin.
The Veterans Services' Office in cooperation with Sandhills Veteran's Cemetery in Spring Lake (located at 310 Murchison Road) and Fayetteville Technical Community College, will conduct the funeral on March 1, 2002 at 10 A.M. The service will be conducted with full military honors.
Fellow veterans are encouraged to attend to show their support for this former soldier.
