The results of a feasibility study to replace the Crown Arena and Theatre will be presented Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Crown Ballroom. The public is invited.
Members of the public are invited to attend a presentation Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. on the market analysis and feasibility study for a new facility to replace the Crown Arena and Crown Theatre. The presentation will be in the Crown Ballroom located inside the Crown Coliseum, 1960 Coliseum Dr., Fayetteville.
With the Crown Arena and Crown Theatre anticipated to close in November 2025, Spectra Venue Management, the company that manages the Crown Complex for Cumberland County, hired Conventions, Sports and Leisure (CSL) International in January 2020 to conduct a comprehensive market analysis and feasibility study.
CSL has completed its scope of work, which included analyzing the regional market and similar facilities and communities, conducting public input forums and interviews with key stakeholders, and collecting additional feedback via a publicly available survey. CSL will present the report derived from these efforts during the public presentation.
Parking will be available at the Crown Complex West VIP parking lot, which is accessible by entering the Complex through the Owen Drive entrance. Follow the directional signage to the West VIP parking lot.
In September 2019, the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners approved Spectra Venue Management to manage a competitive Request for Proposal process that would result in procuring a qualified and experienced firm to complete the analysis and study. As a result, CSL was selected in January 2020; however, the completion of the research and subsequent report was delayed due to the impact of COVID-19.
The study is paid for by funds set aside by Spectra as outlined in its 2017 management agreement with Cumberland County for mutually agreed upon projects.
