About Us

The Cumberland County Veterans Services Office assists veterans and their dependents obtain benefits to which they are entitled by submitting claims for benefits to the Department of Veterans Affairs; reviewing and following up on decisions of the Department of Veterans Affairs for fairness and accuracy; and writing and submitting appeals to the Board of Veterans Appeals for disputed decisions.

By appointment only. Walk-ins subject to availability.

Additional services provided by Cumberland County Veterans Services includes signatures required for ancillary benefits offered by North Carolina Division of Military and Veterans Affairs. 

Below is the verification documentation needed for signatures:

(MVR-33a) Disabled Veteran Plate/Specialty Military Plate

• Vehicle registration card(s)
• printed VA award/summary letter
• DD-214

(NCDVA-50) Hunting and Fishing License

• Printed VA award/summary letter showing at least 50% disability rating
  

(NCDVA-9) Property Tax exclusion

• Veterans: Printed VA award/summary letter showing 100% P&T status with effective date of award
• Widows: printed VA award letter showing DIC approval, veterans’ death certificate
  

Due to the high volume of veteran traffic/office visits. Veterans Services are now scheduling clients and customers "BY APPOINTMENT ONLY" Simply call the front desk at 910-677-2970 and request an appointment. You will be transferred to the next available VSO to schedule your appointment or you can be transferred to a VSO of choice.
