Mar 10, 2025, 08:01 AM by Sade' Wilson

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners will hold the March 17 Regular Meeting in the Cumberland County Historic Courthouse for “History in the Making: A Celebration of Cumberland County’s Legacy”. This meeting marks the 99th anniversary of the Historic Courthouse, located at 130 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, and coincides with the LaFayette Society’s 200th anniversary celebration of LaFayette’s visit to the area.

The meeting will honor Cumberland County’s rich history while showcasing the significance of the Historic Courthouse. The building currently houses several County departments and is used for planning and community meetings. Though the courtroom has not been used for court proceedings since the 1970s, it remains a key space for civic engagement.

Meeting Details:

Security Notice: To ensure the safety of all attendees, deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will be present to conduct security measures using handheld metal detector wands. Attendees carrying bags, purses, or briefcases will be asked to open them for a visual inspection.

Accessibility: The building is accessible via a ramp on the south side of the building, and an elevator to the meeting room on the second floor.

Board of Commissioners regular meetings and agenda sessions are live streamed on CCNCTV though the County’s website at cumberlandcountync.gov, YouTube Channel and on CCNCTV Spectrum Channel 5.
