Cumberland County residents who are already receiving Food and Nutrition benefits and have experienced flood damage and/or power outages may apply for replacement Food and Nutrition Services benefits starting Thursday, Sept. 20.

Food and Nutrition customers should report to the first-floor conference rooms of the Cumberland County Department of Social Services, 1225 Ramsey Street, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20 and Friday Sept. 21. Beginning Monday, Sept. 24 applications will be taken during normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:00p.m.

Due to space and parking constraints, you are encouraged to limit friends and family accompanying heads of household for the replacement process. Please try, to the fullest extent possible, to make childcare arrangements which will allow everyone to be seen more quickly. Special accommodations will be made for the elderly and disabled individuals with mobility issues.

The state will provide instructions to the county regarding administration of the Disaster Food and Nutrition Program for residents who do not currently receive food stamps benefits, but who have experienced food damage and/or power outages as a result of Hurricane Florence.  Upon state notification, the start date for the Disaster Food and Nutrition Program will be communicated to the public.

If you have questions about Food and Nutrition benefits, call DSS at 910-323-1540.
