The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded Cumberland County with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the County’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2018.
This is the 29th consecutive year Cumberland County’s Finance Department has received the award, which is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Finance Director Vicki Evans is named as the finance officer responsible for preparing the award-winning report.
“I feel honored to work with a team of individuals who strive for excellence,” Evans said. “Each year it has been a blessing to be recognized for that by the Government Finance Officers Association.”
The County’s annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate Cumberland County’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The Board of Commissioners recognized Evans and the Finance Department at their meeting on Aug. 5.
