Survey Seeking Feedback on Potential Entertainment Center

Jul 08, 2021

FAYETTEVILLE N.C. – Cumberland County is encouraging residents to complete an online survey as part of a feasibility study for a potential new entertainment venue in Cumberland County to replace the Crown Theatre. The deadline is July 23 to complete the survey.

It was announced in January 2020 that the 4,500-seat Crown Arena and 2,500-seat Crown Theatre will close in November 2025, while the 10,000-seat Crown Coliseum, 60,000-square-foot Expo Center and 9,200-square-foot ballroom will continue operations. A study is underway to evaluate the need for a new performance venue in Cumberland County.

Community input is critical to determine the need for a new venue and ensure a proposed facility meets the needs and desires of residents. Please share your feedback by clicking the link below to complete the survey, which takes approximately 10 minutes.

In January 2020, Spectra Venue Management, the management firm that operates the Crown Complex as agent for Cumberland County, began managing the process to select a firm to conduct a market analysis and feasibility study tied to a potential new entertainment venue in Cumberland County to replace the Crown Theatre. Spectra chose Convention, Sports & Leisure (CS&L) to conduct the study.

As with many things, this project was derailed in March of 2020 due to COVID-19.
