Virtual Librari-Con to Take Place Friday 9 a.m to 6 p.m.

Aug 31, 2021

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Public Library will present its 14th annual Librari-Con on Friday, Sept. 3. Due to COVD-19 restrictions, all Librari-Con programs are virtual.

Librari-Con is a free event intended to mimic the larger anime, comic book and sci-fi conventions.  This event features programs, activities, cosplay, panel discussions and fandom for all ages. Access the Librari-Con LibGuide at cumberland.lib.nc.libguides.com/Librari-con to see a guide to programs by age – Chibi Corner (kids), Teens and Adults.

The popular Cosplay Runway is back for 2021, but adjusted for the virtual Librari-Con. To participate, go to any branch location in costume on Sept. 3 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and a staff member will take your picture or take your own Cosplay picture and email it to email it to jhatcher@cumberland.lib.nc.us no later than 6 p.m. on Sept. 3. The Cosplay Runway gallery will be posted the week after Librari-Con on the Library’s Facebook page at facebook.com/CumberlandCountyPublicLibrary.

Pick up Librari-Con giveaways from any branch while supplies last.  These include Librari-Con 2021 buttons featuring new Libby artwork by Taylor Kopec, a Baby Yoda craft kit and a paper crane origami craft kit.

Most of the activities in Librari-Con are created by the talented library staff. However, the library acknowledges the talent and support of community organizations like the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, The Carolina Manga Library, Sweet Tea Shakespeare and Friends of the Cumberland County Library.
