FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Department of Social Services is providing a free box fan for eligible citizens through the Fan Giveaway Program starting today. The Department of Social Services is located at 1225 Ramsey Street and is open to the public.
The program provides relief to eligible citizens who do not have access to air conditioning during hot summer months.
Citizens eligible for the Fan Giveaway Program are those who fall below 200% of the current poverty level and who have a family member in the home under the age of 2, over the age of 60, or with a heat sensitive medical condition.
Citizens are asked to come into the Cumberland County Department of Social Services to speak with a social worker and complete an assessment. Eligible citizens who completed their assessment in person will receive a fan the same day.
Citizens unable to come into the agency should call 910-677-2388 or 910-677-2389 to speak with a social worker to have their assessment completed and they will be given a date, time and location for fan pick up.
