Library Celebrates Army Special Forces’ 70th Anniversary

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.– The Cumberland County Public Library will host a lecture for the 70th Anniversary of the Army Special Forces on Saturday, June 18th. Join us as we celebrate the formation of the Army Special Forces in June 1952.

Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Paul Tompkins will give a presentation about the history of the U.S. Army Special Forces.  Retired Army Col. Edward C. Short will hold a discussion following the presentation detailing his experiences in Iraq.

The event will be at the Headquarters Library in the Pate Room, located at 300 Maiden Lane in Fayetteville. This is sponsored by the Military History Foundation of North Carolina. Light refreshments start at 9:30 a.m., with the presentation and discussion to follow at 10:00 a.m. The event is expected to last until 11:30 a.m.
