FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Homeowners who want to get their soil tested free of charge have until 5:00 p.m. on November 23, 2022, to submit their sample to the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension office located at 301 East Mountain Drive in Fayetteville.

Peak season soil testing fees are set to take effect Dec. 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023, pending final approval by the N.C. Board of Agriculture. Soil samples delivered to the Cooperative Extension office by 5:00 pm on November 23, 2022, will be delivered to Raleigh and will avoid the $4 peak season fee.

Samples delivered after November 23, 2022, are not guaranteed delivery to the Soil Lab before Dec. 1 and the onset of the peak season fee.

Soil sample boxes, instructions, and informational forms may be picked up at the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension office from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Growers are highly encouraged to submit soil sample information forms online for faster and more accurate uploading of their information. A copy of the soil sample information sheet is required for soil samples delivered to the NCDA Soil Lab.
