FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Extension Master Gardeners will hold their annual Plant Fair on Saturday, April 15, at the Cooperative Extension Center, located at 301 E. Mountain Dr., Fayetteville. The fair begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.
The Extension Master Gardeners Plant Fair will feature educational displays and informal demonstrations on sowing, saving seeds and preparing seedlings for gardening. Discussion topics include the importance of native plants, attracting pollinators such as bees, birds and butterflies, composting and growing your own heirloom vegetables. The fair will also highlight the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, 4H, Junior Master Gardener and Cumberland County Extension Consumer Horticulture programs.
The fair will feature native plants, vegetables, herbs and house plants. Plants grown by Extension Master Gardener Volunteers and harvested seed packs will be available for sale. Vendors will be at the fair with mature native plants for purchase. Cash, checks and major credit cards will be accepted. Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand to answer gardening questions.
Proceeds from the event support Horticulture Scholarships, Cape Fear Botanical Garden, Extension Demonstration Garden, Extension Master Gardener education programs, Veterans Home Garden, Warrior Transition Tranquility Garden and the Second Harvest Food Bank Garden.
