May 19, 2023

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Animal Services is set to receive a $25,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Cumberland County.

“We are very excited to receive this lifesaving investment from Petco Love, as it will enable us to continue our shelter dog heartworm treatment program and purchase pet microchips to be used at community events,” said Elaine Smith, Director of Cumberland County Animal Services.

Cumberland County Animal Services takes in more than 7,000 animals a year and is the only open-admission animal shelter in Cumberland County, North Carolina.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit that has invested $350 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts since its founding in 1999. Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations across North America, with 6.7 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Cumberland County Animal Services is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love.
