FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Public Utilities is issuing a boil water advisory for customers of the Southpoint Water System following a water main break.
Customers in the Southpoint Water System may experience periods of low pressure and service outages, which increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
After service is restored, Public Utilities advises affected customers to boil any water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food) or use bottled water. Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
Water customers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory will remain in effect until further notification is issued.
