FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The National Weather Service is reporting freezing temperatures Tuesday Feb. 6. In anticipation of forecast temperatures, the following area White Flag Shelters will be open.
True Vine Ministries will open a White Flag shelter overnight on Tuesday, Feb. 6, between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. The True Vine shelter, known as the “J Center,” is located at 5315 Morganton Rd., Fayetteville. Transportation to the J Center will be provided from Cumberland County Headquarters Library at 300 Maiden Lane, Fayetteville, and the Fayetteville Day Resource Center at 128 S. King Street, in Fayetteville. Patrons will be picked up from the designated locations between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and will be returned to those locations tomorrow between 7 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Dinner and breakfast will be provided. Cumberland County partners directly with True Vine Ministries to provide White Flag shelter services because True Vine was selected as part of an RFI process in November 2023 to select a partner to provide White Flag shelter services. However, Cumberland County also wishes to make residents aware of other White Flag shelter providers in the County, including the following:
The Salvation Army of the Sandhills Region will open a White Flag Shelter overnight on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Intake will open following dinner, between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. The White Flag Shelter will be open from 6:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. The shelter is available to single men, women, and families. Cornerstone Christian Empowerment Center will also open a White Flag shelter overnight Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. Cornerstone Christian Empowerment Center is located at 111 N. Bragg Blvd., Spring Lake. Intake will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Transportation will be provided to and from the Fayetteville Day Resource Center at 128 S. King Street in Fayetteville. Pick-up time is 6 p.m. and return time is 6:30 a.m. Dinner and breakfast will be provided at the shelter.
