FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Public Library is excited to announce the opening of a new sensory room at the Headquarters Library, scheduled to open Oct. 1, 2024. This innovative space aims to offer a peaceful environment where visitors can experience relaxation and sensory therapy.
The sensory room is designed to provide a retreat from the daily hustle and bustle. It features calming projections, fiber optic lights, a captivating bubble tube surrounded by mirrors, and ocean-themed elements, creating a multi-sensory experience that encourages relaxation and rejuvenation.
"We are thrilled to introduce this inclusive space to our community," said Heather Hall, Deputy Director at Cumberland County Public Library. "Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where individuals of all ages and abilities can unwind, recharge and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of sensory inclusive spaces. We are responsible for responding to the needs of our community, and this sensory room will continue our efforts to respond to the unique and varying needs of Cumberland County residents."
The room will be available for public reservations, making it an ideal space for individuals with sensory processing sensitivities, families, caregivers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. The space is designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring it caters to the diverse needs of the community. Whether used for personal relaxation, therapeutic purposes, or quiet reflection, the sensory room is a valuable addition to the library's amenities.
