FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County has opened a Request for Information (RFI) to identify experienced organizations interested in providing services for a temporary emergency homeless shelter. This initiative aims to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the community.
This RFI is not a contract or funding opportunity but a chance for the County to explore innovative shelter service models for women, children, men and those in need.

Virtual Information Session: July 10, 2025, at 2 p.m.

RFI Responses Due: July 17, 2025, by 5 p.m.
Interested parties, including nonprofits, businesses, and other potential partners, are encouraged to respond. Submissions may propose to:

Provide emergency shelter services;

Offer a facility suitable for temporary shelter operations; or

Deliver both shelter services and facility space.
“We are committed to finding the best possible solutions to support our unhoused population,” said Board of Commissioners Vice Chairwoman Veronica Jones. “This RFI is a critical step toward creating a safe, compassionate temporary shelter that meets the diverse needs of our community. In addition to this RFI, our Community Development Department continues to explore positive investments to expand transitional housing, opportunities.”
