If you are not sure if a product is hazardous, visit the What is Household Hazardous Waste page. If you still cannot figure out if a product is hazardous, take the item to the Household Hazardous Waste Materials Collection Center.

Restrictions:

  • The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center is for use by Cumberland County homeowners only. Residents of the Town of Spring Lake, Fort Bragg and adjoining counties (Harnett, Hoke, Robeson, Sampson, Bladen, etc.) cannot use the center because they do not pay the Solid Waste (SW) User Fee.
  • No commercial businesses are allowed to use this facility. Commercial generators of hazardous waste should click the link for hazardous waste contractors.
  • There is a limit of 10 gallons or 80 lbs of acceptable waste per visit/day.
  • Latex paint is not accepted. To dispose of latex paint correctly, place kitty litter, sand or dirt in paint cans to absorb liquid. Once the liquid has been absorbed and is no longer free flowing, place paint can with lid off in garbage bag and throw away in trash.
  • Anything brought in that is not in the original container must be labeled with information on the contents of the container. If the container is not labeled, it will not be accepted.
  • Waste brought into the site in containers, like gas cans, that citizens want back will not be accepted.
