FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Child Support Department is participating in the North Carolina Child Support Services “Smart Payment Option” program allowing Cumberland County residents to make a payment multiple ways in different locations.
If monthly payments are not deducted by income withholding or if a person wishes to make a payment in addition to income withholding, an individual can choose one of the five following options:
- Walmart Money Center
- Credit Card/e-Wallet
- Interactive Voice Response
- Bank Draft
- Pay by Mail
Payments for NC Child Support Services can be made at a local Walmart Money Center. Just request to make an NC Child Support Services payment and provide the name and MPI (Master Participant Index) number. Payments can be made with cash or debit card. There is a $2 service fee per transaction.
To use Credit Card/e-Wallet, register online at nc.smartchildsupport.com and use your MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card or American Express to make a child support payment. E-Wallet payment with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo and PayPal is also supported. A 2.5% service fee applies.
A bank draft form is available by downloading it at https://nc.smartchildsupport.com/forms/ncauth.pdf and you can call the NCCSCC at 1-877-361-5437 for bank draft inquiries.
An individual can use the Interactive Voice Response Smart Pay system by calling 1-855-702-2268 and follow the prompts to make a credit card or debit card payment by phone. A 2.5% service fee applies.
The Pay by Mail option can be used if child support payments are not paid by income withholding. A payment coupon and self-addressed envelope will be provided via mail each month. All you must do is:
- Make a check or money order payable to NC Child Support.
- Write the assigned Master Participant Index Number (MPI#) on the payment.
- Enclose the check or money order with a payment coupon in the self-addressed envelope provided.
