Tropical Storm Debby Updates Aug. 8: Rayconda Dam Breach & Mac Williams Shelter Closure ​

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Cumberland County Emergency Services is issuing an urgent alert for Rayconda Dam area residents due to a dam breach. The Emergency Services Department is working to notify residents in the Rayconda Dam area.

Residents impacted by the breach should:

  • Watch downstream water levels.
  • Evacuate their residence if impacted.
  • Avoid traveling through flooded areas.
  • Stay tuned to local news and official channels for updates.

For emergency assistance, please call 9-1-1. The non-emergency line is 910-600-7299.

Additionally, the Mac Williams Middle School shelter will be closing immediately due to no attendance.
