Back-To-School Immunization Clinics Start Aug. 9

Back-To-School Immunizations and COVID-19 Clinics for school children and teenagers in grades K-12 start today.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Department of Public Health is partnering with Cumberland County Public Schools to hold evening Back-To-School Immunizations and COVID-19 Clinics for school children and teenagers in grades K – 12.

Pre-paid $10 gift cards will be available to the first 50 individuals each outreach clinic receiving a required back-to-school immunization. A parent or guardian over the age of 18 must receive the pre-paid card on behalf of the student. Funding for the immunizations outreach events is provided by the Cornelia “Neill” Bullock Wilkins Charitable Endowment. Students will also be able to receive free backpacks and hygiene kits.

Walk-ins will be accepted each day until the clinic reaches capacity. Additionally, walk-ins will not be accepted after 6:30 p.m. Insurance will be collected however, vaccines are free for children under 18 through the “Vaccine for Children” program.

Outreach Clinics for students entering grade 7 and 12.

  • Sept. 6, Tuesday, 4 – 7 p.m. Mac Williams Middle School (4644 Clinton Rd., Fayetteville)
  • Sept. 8, Thursday, 4 – 7 p.m. Douglas Byrd Middle School (1616 Ireland Dr., Fayetteville)
  • Sept. 15, Thursday, 4 – 7 p.m. Lewis Chapel Middle School (2150 Skibo Rd., Fayetteville)

     

    Late Night Clinics for all students entering grades kindergarten, 7, and 12.

  • Aug. 9, Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Cumberland County Department of Public Health (1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville

  • Sept. 13, Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Cumberland County Department of Public Health (1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville

*Pre-paid gift cards will not be offered during late night clinics.

State law requires every child attending a North Carolina school receive certain vaccines including diphtheria, measles, mumps and whooping cough. The full required vaccine schedule for children is available at immunize.nc.gov/family/immnz_children.htm.
