Read, Learn, Win Prizes with Summer Reading Challenge 2024

The Cumberland County Public Library is excited to announce the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge, which runs from June 1 through July 31.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Cumberland County Public Library is excited to announce the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge, which runs from June 1 through July 31. The annual program encourages people of all ages to read, learn and engage with their community. The theme for the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”

Grab your reading passport at any Cumberland County Public Library location or download the READsquared app at ccplnc.readsquared.com to participate online. Read to unlock prizes.

  • Earn a mystery prize after 5 and 10 hours of reading.
  • After 15 hours of reading, children (ages 0 – 11) and teens (12 – 18) earn a free book while adults earn $5 in Book Bucks toward a Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library, Inc., book sale.
  • Upon reaching 20 hours of reading, every age level will be rewarded with a limited-edition prize. Children will receive a Super Kid Coloring tote set; teens will get a colorful Push-Pop Ball and adults will be able to select a tote bag from a variety of colorful combinations.

There will also be prize drawings. Each library location will select three winners of prizes, which will channel their inner explorer and inspire them to conquer new challenges. There will also be three grand prize winners. Every five extra hours of reading and every library location visited earns a bonus entry into prize drawings.
